WHAT WE FUND

The WHS Chaparral Band is recognized as one of THE top high school band programs in the nation.

It’s a complex machine that “takes a village” of volunteers plus substantial funding to continue our legacy of excellence.

Westlake Band Parents (WBPs) fills funding gaps not covered by Eanes ISD and participation fees.

Did you know that just 36 cents of every tax dollar Eanes ISD raises for operations stays in our school district?

64% of tax revenue is taken by the state through Recapture and directed to other school districts.

Chap Band operates at a significant funding disadvantage when compared to other bands in our class.

Year after year, WBPs steps up to keep the Chap Band well-equipped and highly competitive, fueling one of

the most comprehensive high school music programs in the country that includes a 200+ member marching band,

3 concert bands, a jazz band, a full orchestra, and an elite color guard (all top-ranked, UIL “1” ratings for 30+ years).

WHAT WE FUND
Westlake Band Parents (WBPs) funds critical band expenses like:

  • Air-conditioned charter buses for long-haul trips (versus school buses)

  • Special education, competition, trips and experiences for students and directors

  • Custom marching season needs like props, uniforms, composers, designers, etc.

  • Financial assistance for students in need (trips, private lessons, fees, etc.)

  • Meal subsidies for CHAPerones, bus drivers, and students

  • Band banquet funding (ex. seniors attend free)

  • Other mission-critical and emergency needs

Westlake Band Parents is a registered 501(c)(3) all-volunteer booster club established in 1976

whose sole purpose is to support the student musicians of Eanes ISD middle & high schools.

All donations tax deductible and eligible for employer matching.
