Spectator Information

WELCOME!

The Westlake Band Parent Organization thanks you for attending the WESTLAKE MARCHING FESTIVAL.  We hope you have an excellent time at the event.  This page is meant to provide you with all the details you need to know as a spectator at the festival.

The WESTLAKE MARCHING FESTIVAL is one of our band program’s premier fundraising events.  Hundreds of Westlake Band students and parents will be
working on festival day to make sure you and your band have a good time at our festival.

GETTING TO WESTLAKE

Refer to this map for an overview of the Austin area and where our high school is located in relation to the city.  We are conveniently located off Loop 360,  which is also called Capital of Texas Highway.  The address for the high school is 4100 Westbank Drive, West Lake Hills, Texas, 78746.  Look for the stadium nearby.

CROSSWALKS

The streets near the high school and stadium are very busy.  Please use the crosswalks when crossing streets.  And watch for traffic.  There are some hills and curves around the high school and cars may not immediately see you crossing the street.

AWARDS

During PRELIMS, First, Second, and Third Place trophies will be awarded in each classification (5A and 6A).  In addition, there will be class awards for Percussion, Color Guard, Marching, and Music.

The awards ceremonies will be held on the field in front of the west (spectator) stands.  Refer to the performance schedule for the timing of this event. 

​

PERFORMANCE VIDEOS

Due to copyright concerns, we will not be offering festival DVDs for sale.  We apologize or any inconvenience this may cause.   Photography and video for personal use is allowed.  However, video equipment cannot block the view of other spectators.  

​

Note that the press box areas are reserved for judges and festival directors.  No spectators will be given access to the press box area for the purpose of recording video.  

​

FIRST AID

A first aid station will be located just outside the southwest corner of the stadium in the school building.  An EMS unit will be onsite for your convenience.  Please walk to First Aid - we do not have vehicles available to transport anyone in need of first aid.  If the person in need of first aid is unable to walk, please call 911. 

​

HYDRATION

Hydration is always a big concern at our marching festival.  Every year, we experience multiple hydration-related illnesses.  Over 50% of people seeking medical attention are there due to a lack of hydration.  Please take the necessary steps to stay hydrated.  In addition to drinks available at the concessions stands, water fountains are also conveniently located under the stands.

SPECTATOR ADMISSIONS

Admission for spectators is $15.00 for adults and $5.00 for students in grades K through 12.  This one ticket will admit spectators to both the preliminary and the finals performances.  Performers (band members) will have access to the visitors stands on the east side of the stadium.  Performers will need to purchase a ticket to enter the west spectator side.

FESTIVAL MERCHANDISE

WESTLAKE MARCHING FESTIVAL merchandise will be available for sale at the festival.  You can also purchase merchandise through this website in advance of the festival and pick it up when you arrive.  Or, if you missed getting merchandise at the festival, you can buy it online here after the festival is over.  Quantities may be limited.

RESTROOMS

Restrooms are located on both sides of the stadium.  Remember, you must pay to enter the west (spectator) side of the stadium.  There are also portable toilets available in the parking areas. 

  

CONCESSIONS

Concession stands are located under the stands in the stadium.  Refer to the menu in the Location section of this website for a list of food that will be available for sale during  the festival.

Note that ice chests may NOT be brought into the stadium.  

​

DINING OPTIONS

Our concession stands will be open throughout the festival to offer a variety of food options.  If, however, you choose to exit the stadium and find food nearby, you will find several dining options within a short drive of the stadium.  You must be wearing your WESTLAKE MARCHING FESTIVAL wrist band to gain free reentry to the stadium.

UMBRELLAS

Depending on the weather, it may be very sunny or rainy.  Spectators are allowed to have umbrellas in the stands, but umbrellas cannot be open while bands are performing - no exceptions.  Spectators who refuse to follow this rule will be asked to exit the stadium and no refund will be offered.

FINALS

Check the schedule for detailed information about the timing of finals.  Immediately following the announcement of the finalists, directors will draw for performance times in finals.  The order of finals performances will then be announced and posted in the stadium.

FINALS AWARDS

All finalists’ scores will be announced during the finals awards ceremony.  Trophies will be awarded to those bands that place in the Finals.

​

The finals awards ceremonies will be held on the field in front of the west stands.  Refer to accompanying “Performance Schedule.”  

​

Finals trophies will be presented to the Drum Majors at this time.
